Academy Uniform Policy
Our uniform is how the local community recognises and makes judgements about us as an Academy and so it is important that students always present themselves in a positive disciplined way.ย We want all students to be proud to wear the uniform and have a sense of pride that they belong to The St Lawrence Academy.ย The uniform policy supports the ethos of the Academy where we expect all students to have respect for each other and for their appearance.ย Students are our ambassadors and this applies as much to their appearance going to and from the Academy as when they are studying in the Academy.ย A smart appearance will be expected at all times and parents / carers are asked to ensure that this is respected.ย Students are expected to wear the correct uniform at all times.ย The school uniform includes:

Optional itemsย
- Reversible black and teal rugby shirt with embroidered Academy logo for PE.
- Black Hoodie for PE with Academy logoย
- Plain black unbranded sports leggings that are fit for purpose or plain black training pants for PE.
- Academy knitted jumper with teal stripe or plain black V neck jumper to be worn under the blazer.
- All students should carry a school bag for books and equipment.
- Prefects and Peer Mentors will all be issued with a specific tie embroidered with the Academy logo.
- If a hijab is to be worn for religious reasons, it must be plain black.
Personal Appearance
- No extreme hairstyles or colours (judgement on hair will be made by the Headteacher or SLT).
- Hair to be tied back for practical subjects, ie PE, Technology, Science
- No long, painted or acrylic nails
- Natural make up with no false lashes or other facial accessories.
- No jewellery allowed except for a watch and a maximum of one small stud earring in each ear lobe nor should there be any other piercings visible elsewhere. Exceptions will not be made for new piercings.ย (All of these items should be removed for PE lessons),
- Non uniform jumpers/jackets must not be worn under blazers.
- No hats/scarves are to be worn in the building at any time.ย
Coats :. Students must removeย coats before enteringย the academy. They should carry them or place them in their bag as there is no cloakroom facilities,ย
Hoodies/Non academy jumpers are NOT academy uniform and should not be worn under or over blazers inside/outside the building,

Where to purchase the uniform
The academy has a limited amount of uniform stock available in various sizes at discounted prices. This includes knitted jumpers (ยฃ10.50 – ยฃ12.50), blazers (ยฃ22.00 – ยฃ27.00), sports polo shirt (ยฃ8.50 – 10.50), microtech shorts (ยฃ4.50 – ยฃ5.50) , sports socks ยฃ2.75 – ยฃ3.25). All items are available via Parentpay and collected from the academy.

School Meals
We are a cashless academy and all our payments are processed through
Parentpay. Lunch money can be allocated to your child’s dinner card online,
as well as payments for any trips or resources. You will need to activate
your account and log online to do this. If you do not have access online,
you can do this at the academy reception. If you require your activation
username and password please contact the academy.

Free School Meals
Free school meals are offered to children of families who receive one of the following:
- Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than ยฃ7,400
- Income Support
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit
- Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
- Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than ยฃ16,190
If your child qualifies for free school meals you may also receive a school clothing grant.ย
Registering for free meals could also raise an extra ยฃ900 per child for the academy, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school activities.
